Madeira is considered the hiker's paradise of the Atlantic par excellence. It is all the more beautiful to cross the entire island over deeply cut valleys, Nordic-looking plateaus, spectacular mountain landscapes and the highest peaks. The impressions of the trip are as diverse as Madeira itself: If on the previous day you were still hiking through lush overgrown slopes and primeval laurel forests, the next day you are already standing on the roof of the island, descending into the chestnut forest of the Nonnental or finding yourself on the wild north coast. Walk at your own pace from the far northwest across the roof of the island to Machico, the old port in the lovely southeast of Madeira, and get to know the island on your own.
