During our Kathmandu Sightseeing trip, we will Explore the edifices of Boudhanath, Patan, Swayambhunath, and Pashupatinath as below.
Boudhanath Stupa
In our Kathmandu Sightseeing tour, we will visit the world's largest Tibetan Buddhist shrine Boudhanath Stupa. 36-meter-tall from the ground, Boudhanath Stupa (Monastery) is one of the largest unique stupas in the world. From the top view, it's massive hemispherical (dome-like) mandala appears prominent, while from the side, it is a single masterpiece. Above the mandala, there is a pyramid-like structure with 13 steps, each symbolizing the abstract principle of Buddhism. The two eyes, along the four sides of a square, make this temple one of the most beautiful creations of human beings.
This stupa has a mythical origin, with stories varying from a person to person. According to the most popular one, there was a king (of Kathmandu valley), who believed in the prophecy of the priest. One day, the priest forewarned the King of the devastating drought that was about to hit the Kathmandu valley and said that hundreds would die if a righteous person (with 32 guns) was not sacrificed. So, the king sacrificed himself, and in the place where his head fell, the temple of Boudhanath was built.
Pashupatinath Temple
During our Kathmandu full day sightseeing, we will visit the very important Hindu Temple Pashupatinath. With countless shrines dotted randomly in a beautiful fashion, Pashupatinath Temple becomes one of the World Heritage Sites, which is not just artistically superior, but spiritually pure. Every year, millions of visitors visit this temple and admire its every single detail with their perplexing eyes wide open.
Pashupatinath Temple is a complex cocktail of mind and minerals. The roof of the main temple is plated with gold, while the walls with bronze, brass, and silver. Sculptures of Hindu deities fill the temple with glamour and beauty. Above all, it is the extreme faith and devotion of the pilgrims to Lord Shiva that makes this historical temple, an exquisite mansion of dreams.
Swayambhunath Stupa
We will visit Swayambhunath Stupa another Buddhist Pilgrimage Site, which is equally venerated as the Boudhanath. This temple has been renovated by the emperors of different centuries time and again, but its origin is still a mystery. The name of this temple comes from a ‘burning flame’, which hints that this temple was built in the place where the self-burning flame has emerged.
Like Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath temple also receives a significant number of visitors from all over the world. While it is a spiritual hub for the Buddhists, other visitors come to admire the 3 large heroic figures of Buddha. Plus, on the hilltop where this temple is located, we can see an outstanding view of the overall Kathmandu valley. This is a perfectly amazing glimpse.
Patan Durbar Square
Patan is one of the oldest cities in the Kathmandu valley, and Patan Durbar Square is old enough to thrust you into the feeling of wandering in the medieval period. It is a complex composition with several temples built by the succeeding emperors to amplify the beauty of the Royal Palace.
With amazingly beautiful wooden carvings aligned meticulously throughout the mansion, this Durbar Square is a perfect combination of art and intelligence. The courtyards are full of sculptures, and the demon's mask hung inside the rooms of this edifice clearly indicates that the people of those times were highly obsessed with demonic figures. Also, the walls are full of paintings of godly images, which further supports the previous arguments.
