The Great Northern Traverse: Discover Meteora, Zagori And Prespes
Metéora · Kastraki · Kipoi · Monodendri · Vikos National Park · Papingo · Tessalônica
Resumo da viagem
This journey takes you through the mountain highlights of Northern Greece, linking three very different regions into one route. It begins in Meteora, where huge rock pillars rise and centuries-old monasteries stand on their tops.
From there, the path leads to Zagori, a land of stone villages, arched bridges, and cobbled paths connecting communities through the dramatic Vikos Gorge and surrounding mountains.
The journey ends in Prespes, a peaceful lake region on the borders of Greece, Albania, and North Macedonia. Here, reed beds line the shore, pelicans fly over the water, and small chapels rest on tiny islands.
One route through three iconic places—Meteora, Zagori, and Prespes—where history, village life, and local flavors come together in an inviting journey.

When you arrive at Thessaloniki International Airport (SKG), a private transfer takes you to your hotel. After settling in, you’ll have time to rest or explore the city, with the Kapani, the oldest and most vibrant open-air market just around the corner. In the afternoon, we walk together through the center of Thessaloniki, one of Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, with a rich and layered history spanning over 2,300 years. We pass landmarks from the Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman times, while experiencing the lively streets of the city. We finish the day in a family-run tavern, sharing meze dishes and enjoying the flavors of Greek cooking. It’s a warm welcome and the moment when we begin sharing information about the week ahead on the North Trail.
